Our story begins long ago, when tales of folklore were passed as truth. The elusive mystery of Burnt Church Road in Bluffton, South Carolina is the reason why we are here. We believe the story of why the Lowcountry road was given such a polarizing name should become transparent. Our hope has always been and will continue to be to honor our past, learn from its mistakes, and push forward for a better future. The inspiration for this distillery is as deeply-rooted in our community as the storied tales of the past; from the notes and flavors of each hand-crafted spirit to the historic streets that bear their names. The once elusive story of Burnt Church Road soon became as clear as our vodka. Thought to be lost centuries ago – we have the story, and now you have Burnt Church Vodka. And a Rye whiskey. Before it was Burnt Church Road it was known as Palmer’s Stretch, named after black businessman George Bell Palmer. This road is where the infamous local, Harry Cram, held community-wide horse races each Thanksgiving. Our rye whiskey pays homage to the road, the town, and its people.

It is here, along the rutted country lane to the old homeplace, where we now forge a new road at Log Still Distillery. To christen the journey, allow us to introduce Monk’s Road. The Fifth District line of Monk’s Road Bourbons is a limited release series of rotating spirits that pay tribute to the historic distilleries of the fifth tax district. Our second release in the Fifth District Series pays homage to F.M. Head Distillery, which our DSP number 47 is derived from. This expression honors F.M. Kamoti’s story begins in the bars of New Jersey, with founders Dylan and Michael waiting in line for green tea shots…and waiting…and waiting. This happened a lot. Green tea shots are popular and hard to make in large batches. Our founders have a strong passion for Green Tea Shots because of their ability to bring their friends and all types of people together. We got tired of waiting, so we got to work on Kamoti––a high-quality, low-ABV, preservative-free, gluten-free, ready-to-pour green tea shot. Then we made a vodka-based white tea shot too. Put it all together with our Komodo Dragon mascot Hoshi, and you’ve got uninterrupted fun, chill vibes, and happy people on both sides of the bar. For us, it’s all about hand-crafting spirits the right way. In the case of our Tennessee Whiskey & Bourbon, that means using grains grown by the farmers we run into at the barbershop and never taking shortcuts. We grind, cook, ferment, distill & patiently age every drop of Old Glory Tennessee Bourbon and Whiskey on site. The oak barrels only ask for time to work their magic, and as a self-respecting Tennessee Whiskey distiller, we don’t to mess with what works. Small Batch - For every Small Batch that we release, individual barrel samples are pulled, and each of them is carefully analyzed and graded for their aroma, taste, and finish. We then blend the samples that make the cut until we find what we believe to be the perfect balance of character deserving of the Old Glory name. Since our first batch of rum was bottled and distilled in September 2009, the Kōloa Rum Company has been bringing The Spirit of Aloha to the world.
